Making Tracks 🐾 at the Races🏁
Sunday February 18th is Big Race day for stock car racing fans everywhere. Festivities and camping begin on facility grounds as early as midweek Feb 14th and camping spots are completely sold out for the 9th consecutive year!
Did you already know that these events are an unlikely place you can bring your dogs? With weeklong entertainment and activities it is no surprise that we race fans bring along our favorite co-drivers. 🏁 🐶

No pets allowed on racetracks or venues
Pets must be kept on leash at all times 🐕🦺 Only registered service animals will be allowed at the race.
Check cords come in lengths of 20',30' and 50' and are perfect to tether your pet within your campsite perimeter.
Fun Facts about the race in Daytona
- The Big Race is the 1st major race of the year and is important for new race car drivers to make their mark. Traditionally, the race is the Sunday before Presidents Day.
- The inaugural race of todays track happened in 1959.
- Origins of the race date back to the early 1900s with the pioneering spirit of racing automobiles and motorcycles on the hard-packed sand of Daytona Beach. Drivers specially modified cars to run their wheels on sand achieving new records for speed on land.
- Originally 4.1 miles of track distance, Daytona Beach is often dubbed “Worlds Most Famous Beach” due to its high attendance and televised viewership.
- Daytona was also once famous for Greyhound dog racing which has ended. Some races were even at the beach.
Historic Daytona Beach is not dog-friendly, however several wonderful dog beaches are nearby such as Lighthouse Point Park, Smyrna Dune, and Flagler Beach. 🐾
Camping traditions extend far back to when racing fans attended early to secure spots and is today an integral aspect of the race event. Early camping arrangements were informal and is now a unique RV subculture adjacent to the famous racetrack. No wonder so many families with dogs are in attendance! 🐶
