3 Inspiring Differently-Abled Dogs

  1. Bleu

Bleu the Frenchie lost the use of her legs after IVDD (intervertebral disc disease), a condition that affects the spinal cord over time, which eventually causes disc rupture and can affect dogs with anything from mild pain to paralysis. Even though Bleu doesn’t have the use of her legs anymore, she’s still motoring along with her awesome doggy wheelchair! She has no problems keeping up with her friend Lunch Box, and her Instagram is full of her high-spirited shenanigans!

  1. Marnie

Marnie is a sweet little old lady of a Shih Tzu whose iconic head-tilt is the result of a disease that also took her hearing, (her lolling tongue is caused by a lot of missing teeth). Now a minor celebrity on social media, Marnie went from street dog to sheet hog when she was adopted at the age of 11 by her loving owner Shirley Braha, who was taken by surprise when sweet Marnie quickly gained a following due to her adorably quirky appearance. Since then, Marnie has met with celebrities and even been in a commercial!

  1. Tuna the Chi-Weenie

Tuna, a Chihuahua and Weenie dog (Dachshund) cross, inherited his recessed jaw and severe overbite due to a backyard inbreeding operation, but this Habsburg-esque challenge hasn’t slowed him down! Poor Tuna used to be so anxious and scared that he would move around by crawling on his stomach instead of walking. Luckily for him, he found a wonderful, loving owner whose care and attention has made Tuna into a completely different dog. Tuna now spends his time raising awareness for dog adoptions, and raising funds for rescue organizations. He even has his own book, “Tuna Melts my  Heart: The Underdog with the Overbite,” as well as a website and merchandise. Check him out here: www.tunameltsmyheart.com or @tunameltsmyheart
